Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 08.09.17

Hi, I found this forum when I was searching for "Unbranding AT&T Lumia 950". And fortunately it seems that solution can be found here on this forum.

hello Martin,
and welcome you here.
as I see you have already found the other tread. Smile

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 08.09.17

Hi CTHTC. Your summary how to change RM-1105 to RM-1104 seems nice to me. But at the beginning, You mentioned, that I will need "AT&T_RM1104_RM1105_Softwarepack". Unfortunately, I can't see it anywhere here. Could You please send me link?
I will try to translate Your instructions into English than, to be sure, that I understand it well and that I will be doing exactly what I should :-)

Thank You

Hello German folks :-) - TÜV1 - 08.09.17

I wish you much success with your project,
we still have a second candidate with an RM-1105, who wants to bring it to an RM1104, but he is not yet so far.

I hope we get from you feedback about how it has worked and whether one should improve what the guidance.

Hello German folks :-) - skaarj80 - 08.09.17

Heartly welcome to our community Smile
There is never a guarantee on Ebay, you`ll get an phone as described. The thing with the AT&T 950 is another Chapter oft that story and the solution is a bit tricky, but possible.

Kind regards and good luck Smile

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 08.09.17

I will report my way through this process :-)

But now I have first problem here: I downloaded "AT&T_RM1104_RM1105_Softwarepack", but it is password protected. What is the password please?

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 09.09.17

Thank You for helping me. It seem that I have all the tools and files that I need now. I used Google translator to translate CTHTC's summary, how to change RM-1105 to RM-1104 and it looks like this:

01. Connect the phone to the computer using a USB cable
02. Download and unpack the AT & T_RM1104_RM1105_Softwarepack. To do this, create the "Test" folder in the C: drive. Save the software pack in this folder and double-click it. The software pack is self-extracting.
03. Install the Windows Device Recovery Tool (part of the AT & T_RM1104_RM1105_Softwarepack in folder 006)
04. In the shell (command line), press the Windows key and enter CMD in the window that opens, and then press Enter
05. Enter the following command: cd c:\program files (x86)\microsoft care suite\windows device recovery tool
06. Enter the following command: thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\Test\001" -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset

Note: It may happen that thor2 collapses during this process. In this case just wait until the phone has rebooted and re-run the process.

07. Wait until the transfer and flash operation has been performed. The course is comprehensible on the PC
08. Enter the following command: thor2 -mode rnd -bootnormalmode
09. In the shell, type the following command: cd c:\Test\002 This will take you to the folder where the iuTool is stored.
10. In the shell, type the following command: iutool -p C:\Test\003 -V

Note: If error 0x80070490 appears, then remove the phone in the device overview and repeat point 10.

The data is now transferred to the phone. The following information should be displayed on the computer:
[1] Started device ** individual numbers - combination **
[1] Transferring files started
[1] Transferred file 1/3
[1] Transferred file 2/3
[1] Transferred file 3/3
[1] Transferring files complete: 3 files
[1] Update started
[1] Installation failed (HRESULT = 0x8024a110)
[1] Failed (0x8024a110)

ERROR: 0x8024a110

Note: The error message can be ignored because the platform ID is changed here.

11. The phone restarts, the update is installed.
12. Enter the following command: cd c:\program files (x86)\microsoft care suite\windows device recovery tool
13. Enter the following command: thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\Test\004" -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset
14. Enter the following command: thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\Test\005" -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset
15. Enter the following command: thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "RM1104_neu.ffu" -productcodeupdate 059X4V9 -skip_flash

Everything seems to be clear, but I don't understand point 15. I haven't found anything like RM11047_neu.ffu file. Is it being created during the process? Or is it just some kind of fake file to change device to 059X4V9? It also seems, that there is missing one quotation mark in the original description of point 15, so I've added one.
Are all the commands right? I'm asking, because google translator sometimes messes commands, so I tried to take them from the original german description.

I will start with change of RM-1105 to RM-1104 this evening, when I have more free time :-)

Best regards
Martin

Hello German folks :-) - skaarj80 - 09.09.17

@Martin1977
Give it another shot without the quotation marks(" ") in the command.

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 09.09.17

still the same result, even without the quotation marks :-(

Hello German folks :-) - TÜV1 - 09.09.17

try nevertheless times with the WPID to flashen and not with THOR2,
with a user in the anteren thread it worked so today

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 09.09.17

What is WPID? is it any other program? I can't see any WPID executable in Windows Device Recovery Tool. When I enter WPID in google I can't find anything usefull.

OK, I found that it is part of Windows Driver Kit, which I'm installing right now. Do I use just that graphical UI to flash supplied FFU files into my phone?

Hello German folks :-) - CTHTC - 09.09.17

WPID is a part of my downloadpack in directory 006. Can you start the WPRT?

Sorry, this answer was not correct.

Have you now download the WPID an can you start this?

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 10.09.17

I installed Windows Driver Kit mentioned on Microsoft web pages as part of WPID, but I can't see it anywhere in my computer. It seems that these are just some kind of support files. So I started installation of Visual Studio for Community 2015 this morning. But it takes time and my connection is just old ADSL. I'll see, if ImageDesigner.exe is part of Visual Studio for Community 2015.

I also checked Thor2 help and as example, there is path to file including file name and not just directory. So when Visual Studio is installed, I'll also try Thor2 once more, but this time with whole file name. I'll try this:

thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\test\001\RM1105_1078.0017.10586.13053.12716.02FBB4_retail_prod_signed.ffu" -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset

I'll let You know, when I have more information.

Hello German folks :-) - TÜV1 - 10.09.17

please download the WPID from us. and follow our Lumia Flash guide, which is linked in the header.

our user, MPKPeter, yesterday also successfully RM-1105 to the RM-1104 flashed.

in essence it was only 3 important points.

1. your RM-1105 to the oldest firmware flashen, this can be done with WPID or Thor2, then Wlan from, the phone roughly set, the developer mode on the PC and Phone activate.
2. On the PC the Unsigned drivers activate, then the 3 CAB files per iuTool to the Phone flashen, the Phone should restart itself and install the files.
3. Now you can flash any firmware on your device.

I recommend you the following:

Model info
Phone model: Lumia 950
PackageTitle: RM-1104 VAR EURO A6 CV
Product Code: 059X5B6
manufacturerHardwareModel: RM-1104
Load firmware: 01078.00017.15452.59016
Operator name: 000-AL, 000-BA, 000-BG, 000-HR, TMO-HR, 000-LV, 000-LV, 000-000, 000-000, 000-000,

EDIT:

because of the WPID, search on your PC for WPID Start.bat

Takt this:
http://wpvision.de/nokia-downloads/2258-nokia-lumia-xxx-flashen-der-firmware-debranden.html#post25168

The WPID is a part of my Lumia Flash Tools.

Hello German folks :-) - Martin1977 - 10.09.17

So a little update from me. I found few problems and also solved few :-)

First of all, Thor2 works, but it needs FULL FFU name, not just directory. When I used this:

thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\test\001\RM1105_1078.0017.10586.13053.12716.02F BB4_retail_prod_signed.ffu" -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset

Thor2 flashed my device without any problems.
I also switched my phone into developers mode as advised by TUV1 and iutool did update of my phone with those 3 files without any errors.

But next step with flashing RM-1104 file didn't work for me. First problem is, that that file in directory 004 is defective. It only has 1,4 GB. So I downloaded new one from Lumiafirmware.com. But after trying to flash it into my phone, I got message:

This FFU file is not meant for this product. Platform ID of image doesn't match platform ID of phone.

Did I miss any step to change ID of my phone?
